Baby from the Moon
Barbara Mojica, Top Contributor: Children’s Books
5.0 out of 5 stars A BLESSING FROM ABOVE

What a beautiful picture book brimming with colorful illustrations and a charming storyline. Baby G lives up in the clouds where he is tended by the moon and stars. At first, he is playful and happy, but as time passes, he is troubled by dreams of a beautiful lady who will love and care for him. The moon and stars decide to ask the stork to bring the sad boy down to earth to find his mommy. Baby G is distraught because no one seems to be interested in him, until one day he finds a woman who is waiting for him to be born.

The book provides an opportunity for parents to add details and talk about the birth process. This is an excellent way for parents to prepare children for a new sibling. Young readers will be mesmerized by the exquisite artwork. Highly recommended for ages five and older.

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect learning experience for children, which is lots of fun

Mrs. D’s “Runaway Clothes,” illustrated beautifully in vivid colors by Chanoa, deservedly won the Readers’ Favorite Book award and the Mom’s Choice Award Honoring Excellence. “Runaway Clothes” is a marvelous well-thought-out tale and a perfect learning experience for children.

It is about messy Nika, who is very much like many children. One day she awoke, looked in her closet, and saw that it was empty. All her clothes were gone. An old wooden hanger told her that the clothes acted in an understandable manner by leaving because Nika treated them so badly. They were obviously angry. Nika looked everywhere and could not find them.

Then she looked at her toys, which were spread out in an unruly fashion, one on top of the other, without any care. She became frightened. What if the toys also decided to leave her?

Children will enjoy finding out what Nika learns from the missing clothes, what she does about the toys, what happened to the clothes, did they come back, and Nika’s mother’s reaction to what Nika learnt and how she acted based on that learning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book with deep meaning

My daughter chose this book because of the beautiful pictures, especially the Palm Princess. Then we found not only colorful illustrations inside but the deep meaning and a lesson every child should learn from the beginning of his/her life. You shouldn’t be prideful and selfish. Otherwise, you can find yourself all alone and nobody will help you in a hard time. And it is easier and more pleasant to live when you have friends or just somebody you can talk with.

The City Kittens

5.0 out of 5 stars Special and inspiring story

This is a special and inspiring story. With a Christmassy theme, it is the tale of how Nyda the cat had to make room for two little kitten visitors and learn to share her home and comforts. At first resentful and protective of her space and treats, she then discovers that the little creatures are not as spoilt as she at first thought. This is a lovely story about compassion, understanding and kindness and knowing that things are not often as they may at first appear to be. I love the way this message of understanding is combined with the Christmas backdrop of the story—the time of year for love and compassion and sharing with others.

Mrs. D’s children’s books are always written with a lovely warm and nurturing tone. The characters are appealing and likable, and young readers will absorb the messages about kindness and friendship through what happens to them.

This is a lovely story to read to young children and the bright and vivid illustrations encouraging discussion and sharing. It is also perfect as a first/early short novel for more confident readers. Recommend for Christmassy storytimes—or anytime.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Addition to a Child’s Book Collection

Mrs. D delivers a brilliant and charming story with two characters: a grandfather and child. She showed us the world being viewed through both eyes and opened mine through the deliverance of two very different perspectives. This message truly moved my heart because it shows us that life is filled with beauty and blessings in all disguises. It also showed the benefits of having a positive attitude and outlook on life. Sometimes, we are too busy to discover all of the incredible things around us, but Mrs. D surely reminds us all about our wonderful world and everything we should take time to admire and wonder about. I look forward to sharing more of her books with my nieces and nephews!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Open your heart to new people…

When I saw the cover of this book, I knew I’d love it. The cats portrayed on the cover looked like cats that I have owned. As I read this lovely children’s book, Mrs. D’s love for children, animals and storytelling came through in a clear and gentle tone. Nyda, the old house cat, shares her home with Mrs. D and is comfortably set in her ways until some new kittens visited one Christmas. These kittens arrived in fashionable kitten carrier bags and seemed to be quite spoiled. Nyda resented these new intruders, who were playing with her toys and eating her food. As time passes, Nyda learns that the new cats weren’t always loved, and that they come from a very difficult past. She opens her heart and learns to love the cats, too.

Mrs. D weaves wonderful lessons of acceptance, adoption and not judging other people without getting to know them into this sweet children’s picture book. I highly recommend it for young children.

Who Let the Cookies Out?
Maria’s Mum
5.0 out of 5 stars A really fun read with a cleverly crafted underlying message.

This story—created by the author’s grandson—is just endearing! It follows the tale of Grandma, who bakes several batches of cookies for her grandson’s Pre-K class. As each batch is created—with Grandma adding a unique touch to each—the cookies come out of the oven, vying for top position as the best cookies ever! Then, just as Grandma whips up the last batch, she adds a different ingredient that kicks the whole story off! It really is a fun tale with a cleverly crafted underlying message.

It was a further treat to discover that the author had included a recipe at the end of the story—a perfect opportunity for children and guardians to cook together or for a baking session at school to keep the story going.

I must add that the colorful illustrations just enhanced the story further. I highly recommend this adorable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two creative short stories in one!

The author continues to create imaginative and entertaining stories for children in this book that holds two short stories in one. This is a wonderful way to teach children about the changing seasons and how nature interacts with these changes. Mrs. D explains in a metaphorical way how the two seasons, autumn and winter, flow into one another and at times clash to cause havoc with the landscape.

In the second short story a kitten watches the seasons as they change from the warmth and safety of his home. Children will put themselves in the kitten’s place and react as he does to the wind as it blows gusts strong enough to remove all the leaves from the trees.

The beautiful and colorful illustrations add an exciting quality to the story and heighten the excitement as the seasons change in front of the reader’s eyes. The combination of the creatively written prose and these amazing illustrations produces an outstanding product that will be enjoyed by many children for years to come.

The Mysterious Life Inside a Closet
JK Hansen Studios
5.0 out of 5 stars Highly imaginative!

I’ll never look at my housecleaning tools the same way again! The author has a wonderful imagination, as is displayed in the story line and characters in this book. Living inside the kitchen closet is a grumpy broom with black hair and a swishy black skirt, an old vacuum cleaner, a purple feather duster, a blonde floppy mop, a silver bucket, a caring blue sponge, a frightened lost slipper, and a dustpan, to name a few. The broom becomes very bossy and irate when she notices crumbs on the floor. She immediately demands to know who made the mess. All the closet occupants claim their innocence. Hearing the commotion, a house kitten playing nearby peeks in the closet. The occupants warn the kitten not to come in, but curiosity gets the best of him. The bossy broom accuses the kitten as well and continues to throw a tantrum. The other closet occupants have had enough and stand up to her. Will the bossy broom ever find out who made the mess on the floor?

The stunning illustrations brought the characters to life and complement the brilliant story line. An engaging read from beginning to end. I recommend this book for children of all ages.

The Trees Have Hearts
Grampy
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Blend of Reality and Imagination

“The Trees Have Hearts” by Mrs. D is another wonderful tale by this talented author. Written in her typically unique style, this tale will capture your imagination as you enter the world of a lonely young girl who has been uprooted from her native country and moved to a new land, a new town, a new school, and no new friends … yet. While she waits for time to teach her a new language, she befriends a trio of trees growing in her backyard. Her vivid imagination is so typical of the very young, and it is such a shame that we generally lose that as we age.

In “The Trees Have Hearts,” our heroine eventually begins to make new human friends, both at school and at summer camp. Will her tree friends be upset with her? Will they be jealous of her newest friends? Or will they reach out to her, happy that she is beginning to feel at home at last?

This story is one that “feels good” as you read it. But all good things must end, so they say. Will our little friend face yet another challenge in her young life? Get a copy of “The Trees Have Hearts” and enjoy getting to know just a bit about what it must be like for a child to leave all that is familiar and settle in a new place. You will enjoy the story, and so will your children. And do not neglect to read the Preface.

5.0 out of 5 stars Projects clear and strong values

I received an electronic copy of this book as a gift. As I have come to appreciate about Mrs D’s books, the illustrations are bright and colourful and perfectly represent the key messages that are given throughout the book. “What is Good and What is Bad” projects clear and strong values. This is a story that can be shared in the classroom, nursery or at home, and the questions at the end present an ideal opportunity for further discussion. This book delivers important messages in a fun way and brings an understanding in respect to good behaviour versus bad behaviour. A worthy five stars for this educational read.

The Little Girl Praying on the Hill (Somewhere Between Series Book 1)

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotionally charged
Verified Purchase

I found this book to be quite emotionally charged. One moment I found myself smiling as the little girl in the book played with her “friend,” laughing when she was quite mad at him, and the next greatly saddened by the burden this child bears. Although set in a different place and time, it is a story that I’m afraid all too many children face. A drunk and abusive father, a mother terrorized by the one that should cherish her the most, and a child that must come to terms with it all. This book definitely runs the gamut on emotions.

Throughout it all, Mrs. D writes with beautiful imagery as she does with all her books. It is easy to see why this book was a Readers’ Favorite Award winner.

A Taste of Bread (Somewhere Between Series Book 2)
Maria’s Mum
5.0 out of 5 stars An incredibly moving story not to be missed.

This is an incredibly moving story told through the eyes of a seven-year-old girl whose family are faced not only with the challenges of living in a country with communist rule but with a father—one of millions of children whose childhood was cut short by World War II—who is addicted to alcohol, wasting what precious funds they have drinking vodka whilst the rest of the family strive to rise above poverty by keeping the farm running to the best of their abilities. Faced with so many tragedies—fire that swept through their village and taking lives, as well as homes; the death of her baby sister, her father’s violent outbursts all coupled with the terrible pains of hunger—she understandably begins to question her faith in God and why he is seemingly not answering her many prayers.

She goes to stay with her Uncle and Aunt to keep his little son company through the winter. They live in an apartment on the fifth floor in an area where all the buildings are the same and she ends up getting lost. The dialogue between her and the man who she believes is living in their flat is heartwarming.

5.0 out of 5 stars DEVASTATED BUT NOT DEFEATED

Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2019

This book is a continuation of the short story, “The Little Girl Praying on the Hill.” “A Taste of Bread” probes the mind and soul of a seven-year-old child who lives in a pure communist village in Ukraine. Her father is perpetually drunk and sullen; her mother is kind and empathetic. Together they struggle to survive on a struggling farm in the Carpathian Mountains.

The young girl describes the day-to-day struggle to survive. She is surrounded by poverty and despair and cannot understand why God has not rewarded her faith. Her brother relentlessly teases her, but he is her rock and strength. The reader finds herself inside the mind of this little girl who describes in detail and paints powerful images of the family’s fight to survive the vicissitudes of nature’s seasons. One can visualize the desperation of the children as they run to catch up with the bread truck, hoping to exchange one egg from the farm for a small piece of bread. They appear powerless in the face of a lightning storm that destroys several villages as the flames whip around the roof of their home. How strong must a child be to escape and find a better life?

This book oozes with strong emotions and draws the reader into the story. It is an eye-opener for those who know little of post-World War II Russia. Highly recommended for young adult and adult readers.

I received a copy of this book from the author and voluntarily chose to read and review it, giving my honest opinions for no compensation.

Where Did Grandpa Go? (Grandpa’s Stories)
5.0 out of 5 stars Taking the longer, more adventurous way around! Fun story and drawings with a lesson!

Mrs. D is back to bring us another adorable tale of Grandpa’s mischief in “Where Did Grandpa Go!” Grandma sends Grandpa on a simple errand, but Grandpa decides to take the road less travelled, resulting in a bit of adventure. I love how Mrs. D teaches life lessons in a fun (often outrageous) way! This was a really fun way to show kiddos that people have different ways of doing things, and that everyone works at a different pace. Accompanied by fun illustrations, this would be a wonderful addition to any classroom or household with younger kiddos!

Carlo the Mouse: Big Adventures

5.0 out of 5 stars Kitty Muse Book Reviews

The first memory Carlo the Mouse can recall is that of the tantalizing scent of Italian cooking. Born in the basement of a hospital, he is privy to the smells of the kitchen, and this shapes his life and his dreams.

Anxious to get to the heart of where those delicious smells are coming from, he is a constant source of frustration to his parents. Always with the questions, always wanting to travel to unknown places and eat the food there.

Finally, to the relief of the entire family, Carlo is old enough to explore on his own. But first, his parents sit him down and tell him The Rules. There are things he can and cannot do, all of which are important in order for him to make it back home with his life intact.

Will Carlo listen to his parents? They are afraid he won’t remember, but they have to let him go. Some things have to be learned on a personal level, and not secondhand. All they can do is hope, and leave a light on.

Another gem from Mrs. D! This is the first in a series of several books, and the titles of those are just as intriguing as this one. The interchange between the characters goes beyond just rules and regulations. Even small children will see just how caring and loving this family is with each other. There are definitely different personalities, and conflicts, as in every family. Carlo’s is one that answers those challenges with love and firmness.

The pictures are adorable! Every facial expression, every nuance of action, is so well-thought-out. The colors are appealing, and the story’s lesson is simple enough for even the youngest of readers.

There is a challenge here in some of the vocabulary used in the book. I welcome that. The youngsters who get this story read to them are privileged in this regard, for they can learn new words and what they mean. A child whose vocabulary is extended beyond his or her comfort zone is a child who will learn and grow into an intelligent adult.

I highly recommend this story, and hope that I will get the chance to read more of Carlo’s adventures.

5.0 out of 5 stars A discovery of new places, on an adventure you will go! With Carlo the mouse.

Carlo, a baby mouse, can hardly wait to be big enough to go out on an adventure and go exploring.

Mama and Papa mouse have rules, and Carlo can’t hear; he is far too excited with thoughts about his new ventures and the places he will go!

This is the first book from the Carlo the Mouse series, and Olga (Mrs. D) has shown the importance of learning as we grow up, to keep our eyes and ears open for safety before we head into the unknown. It boils down to the importance of listening to parents and teachers.

But oh, no! Carlo’s insatiable desire for adventure keeps getting him in trouble. But why? He is only discovering new places and new feels.

Your children will enjoy listening and reading this story of Carlo and will wonder what happens to him next.

You must read the books that follow on in this series. More adventures of Carlo the mouse!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rules Really Are Important.

In this second book of Mrs. D’s Carlo the Mouse series, Carlo excitedly leaves his little home to explore the bigger hospital surroundings. Carlo soon realizes that his parents were right when they told him the hospital was not as kind and friendly as he thought it would be. After run-ins with a patient, a food server, the horrible chef, and the dreaded hospital manager, Carlo wishes he had listened more carefully to his mama’s rules.

This book is a wonderful continuation of Book 1. It has action, drama, and amazing illustrations. Mrs. D infused humor into the story, while keeping true to the life lessons she wants young readers to learn. My son loved books when he was young and I know he would have added Carlo the Mouse to his favorites. As an adult, I certainly enjoyed reading them and look forward to the next one in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Children will love Carlo and his adventures

Multi award-winning author Mrs. D with colorful adorable drawings by Chanoa completed a seven-book series of funny and charming books about the mischievous, cute, lovable mouse that was born just behind the kitchen in a Florida hospital is great. This is the third book in the series. It is about Carlo, who has two seemingly uncontrollable desires: eating food and searching for adventure. His parents needed to teach him rules to keep him safe. Carlo ignored them. Like many human kids, he could not understand the need for rules.

Carlo the mouse wanders around the hospital, but when he is seen, the hospital staff becomes frightened and chases after him, including the manager, the cook, and the exterminator.

The book is filled with funny events, such as both the hospital manager and the cook are scared of mice, and the cook faints; the manager tries to catch Carlo with a stapler; and Carlo would not go near the mouse trap set to catch him with tempting cheese because he wanted parmesan cheese, which was not in the trap. The description of these acts are very funny for children, but not for Carlo, who thought, Maybe Mama’s rules were right. Maybe he should be careful.

Children will learn from this enjoyable book about rules; and they will identify with Carlo, like him a lot, and enjoy reading his adventure or having it read to them.

Carlo the Mouse, Book 4: Rules Are for a Reason
Carlo’s adventures in the hospital!

Carlo the mouse is a very mischievous mouse that loves to explore the hospital. His parents have given him rules about what he can do at the hospital to be safe. Yet, Carlo just wants to explore and forgets the rules. Carlo just doesn’t understand the rules have to be followed and are put in place to protect you and have consequences when not followed. He jumped into the bed of a very sick man that had a horrible case of chickenpox, and now Carlo has bumps all over him. He did learn his lesson. He thinks that something horrible is happening to him when the bumps come up on him. He has some very wild ideas as to what is happening to him!

My favorite part was the hospital manager hunting for him and putting up the wanted poster. Carlo thinks that the picture on the poster should be better and tells the manager that a professional photographer would be best. What a hilarious photo session that would be!!

Children of all ages will enjoy Carlo’s adventures in the hospital while learning that rules are very important to follow. Mrs. D did it again and has a incredible book for all ages to enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A terrific book for kids—lots of fun

Mrs. D writes amusing and enjoyable books that kids love, and Chanoa adds beautiful eye-catching drawings that kids find are fun to see. This new 2018 book about Carlo the mouse is a delight. Carlo was born in a Florida hospital. He is very cute. His only faults are that he loves food and adventures. Carlo has many humorous confrontational adventures, including his need to avoid the traps set by the Florida hospital cook, hospital manager, and exterminators. Carlo watches the food stations on TV and sees how Italian cooks make wonderful dishes. He wants to go to Italy to eat those foods.

One day, while dreaming about Italy, he hears a female mouse expressing her wishes to go to Paris. He looks and sees Maria, a beautiful redheaded mouse. Carlo does what he can to impress Maria, including dying his hair blond, and soon the two are married and have three beautiful redheaded daughters. But Carlo is still seeking new foods and adventures outside of Florida.

While sitting and watching the cars visiting his hospital, he falls off a canopy where he was sitting into the trunk of a car. Its driver does not notice Carlo and drives from Florida to New Jersey. He meets a friendly cat there who tells him that Mrs. D makes delicious dishes. He jumps from the car, rushes to Mrs. D’s front door and bangs on it, hoping Mrs. D will let him in and feed him. The cat shouts after him, “Stay away from Mrs. D’s kitchen!”

A great story with a strong message that readers will want to enjoy again and again.

Who will feed Stacey first?
Book 1 in the series “Who Is Most Important in the Fridge?”

I spent an enjoyable afternoon reviewing the three books in this series, “Who Is Most Important in the Fridge?” I was fortunate to receive copies direct from the Author.

Aimed at young readers, the bold, colourful illustrations will delight everyone and help to further showcase the tale within.

I liked that the story was written in a rhyming way. The story begins with Frank the Fridge, who is very full, and along comes a hungry Stacey. The contents within the fridge all vie to be the one to ‘feed Stacey first,’ but what is very clever is the way in which author Mrs D weaves in the goodness and benefits from eating the range of glorious foods on offer. This is a story I would read over and over to my children as it really does bring an understanding of the foods we eat and may even tempt them to try new things!

VINE VOICE
4.0 out of 5 stars Good to inspire kids to make healthier choices when eating

“What’s Going On Inside the Fridge? (Who Is Most Important in the Fridge? #2)” is the second book in this series, with a direct continuation of the first story. Frank the fridge is very sad because the food inside of him has been fighting, which caused the girl, Stacey, to look for a snack in the pantry. There is a fight between the pantry and the fridge because there are healthy foods in the fridge, but junk food in the pantry. The story continues with all the food inside the fridge fighting and saying why they are healthy and should go first, all while Stacey is in the junk food pantry. The story is meant to rhyme, but it doesn’t flow well, so reading it without trying to make it rhyme works better. The story ends on a cliffhanger with Stacey still hungry and nothing resolved yet. There is one more book in the series to read to find out what happens.

There are some fun coloring pages and good recipes in the back of the book. The book is good to inspire kids to make healthier choices when eating.

Who Is Most Important in the Fridge? Story 3 (Fridge Stories)
Mary Schmidt
5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful learning adventure for kids

My review follows the author’s book blurb found on Amazon:
“A playful arrangement of all types of food gives this yummy story a different look at how to make healthy choices, which are mostly stored inside the fridge. This delicious book shows veggies and fruit so juicy and alive, children will wish they could jump off the page right into their mouth. Even vegetable haters will find it hard to resist the vibrantly colored illustrations, which make each food look scrumptious and tempting. Serve this splendidly illustrated book to all who relish a good, healthy feast! It can be fun!”

This is book 3 of 3 in this series about Frank the Fridge and the food items inside the fridge. This time Stacey opens the fridge door and peers inside, and once again, the foods are arguing about what item Stacey should eat first. Children learn the value of nutrition taught to them via the food items in the fridge. When a strawberry pops out, Stacey sneezes and children learn that some people are allergic to them. The same can be said of some of the other fruit and veggies. I find this part a wonderful addition in helping children learn that allergies are important to them and to their friends. Stacey learns how to cook a nutritious meal by combining different foods from the fridge. Highly recommended and Five Stars! I received a digital copy of this book and voluntarily chose to read and review it for no compensation, giving my honest opinion.

Born to be Free Kitten: Book 1 (The Cat That Wanders by Itself)
Jupitertonian
5.0 out of 5 stars An imaginative and entertaining story.

This imaginative tale introduces young readers to a kitten and explores her experiences as she develops from a newborn into a young, playful and curious cat! Each aspect of her development is filled with intrigue and entertainment as she discovers more about the world around her. Unlike her mother and other siblings, the realization that her colouring is different from them causes her much distress, but her mother is quick to offer reassurance that despite their difference in colouring, she is nonetheless a special cat—a Calico cat. And a fiercely independent one at that.

Her shenanigans unfortunately land her into trouble from time to time and she finds herself eventually being taken away from her mom and brothers. But this feisty and determined beauty doesn’t give up easily, and you find yourself rooting for her as she gets into all kinds of mischief and breathing a sigh of relief as she manages to scrape through it all.

Eventually she comes upon Mrs. D and her family, who are immediately taken with her. Despite poor Mr. D’s suffering with cat allergies, they take her in and name her Nyda. But before long, Nyda can’t ignore the urge to go off exploring again, and this brings forth more adventures for young readers to enjoy.

This is a beautiful and entertaining story that has been creatively written and will bring much joy to young readers.

Runaway Kitten: Book 2 (The Cat That Wanders by Itself)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Cat that Wanders by Itself is an imaginatively detailed story told through the eyes of a cat.

This is a well-written story of an independent calico cat, Nyda, who loves to roam and search for adventures and friends. The story is told through the eyes of the kitten as she experiences new things and discovers that she needs a family and a home.

The author created an imaginative story with poetic passages of nature, seasons, and of her cat, Nyda’s, adventures from the time she was a kitten until she is a full-grown cat. The kitten is taken too soon from her mother’s care because of her mischievous nature, fearless personality and inquisitive spirit. She is quite a remarkable feline who gave much back to all who knew her.

If you are a lover of cats, you will feel an affinity toward Nyda and understand her quirky nature.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read for cat lovers of all ages!

Mrs. D gives us a really fun cat adventure and a loving tribute to the cat Nyda in the partially illustrated “The Cat That Wanders By Itself!” Living on a farm, Nyda finds all sorts of great ways to get herself (and her human companion) in trouble. This was a fun collection of misadventures that, for a cat lover like me, were equal parts hilarious and touching! It reminded me pleasantly of “Charlotte’s Web” in a way. Though a chapter book, I found it to be easy to read for all ages, and the illustrations sprinkled throughout the story were really well done and added another element of fun. If you are a cat lover or love children’s chapter books, definitely come cause some cat mayhem with “The Cat That Wanders By Itself!”

5.0 out of 5 stars THE CYCLE OF LIFE

This coloring/activity book is a delightful companion to the storybook with the same name. I would recommend reading the book before reinforcing its message in the coloring book. The activity book is full of ways to assist children in understanding the cycle of life as portrayed in the changing seasons. It contains a plethora of activities to keep children entertained for hours. There are mazes, connect the dots, fill in the blanks, color and count, complete the missing letters, and finish the drawing pages. Children are encouraged to give their own opinions on the things I like about, character pages, and write your own story pages.

Highly recommended to teach children about the changes they experience as life progresses and the seasons change. It is a wonderful way for siblings and parents to share and discuss their feelings in a worthwhile family activity.

Runaway Clothes: Coloring and Activity Book for Kids
Maria’s Mum
5.0 out of 5 stars Innovative, fun and fresh!

‘Runaway Clothes’ is an award-winning storybook that teaches young readers the importance of taking care of their clothes and toys and being tidy, which delivers a strong and valuable educational message.

I was fortunate to receive a copy of the ‘Runaway Clothes Colouring and Activity Kids Book’ direct from the author for review.

There are a number of different activities based around the theme of clothing, and as the storybook ‘Runaway Clothes’ is full of big, bright, bold illustrations, this colouring and activity book presents a wonderful opportunity for children to create their own with pages upon pages of pictures to colour in.

This activity colouring book is a super idea. Ideally, I would purchase this with the storybook too to help further encourage interaction and to also bring greater understanding to the overall message. This rightly deserves 5 stars in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Innovative and fresh

Having recently reviewed ‘Who Is Most Important In The Fridge?’ I was delighted to receive the ‘Colouring Book For Kids’ edition.

This is more than a colouring book. There are a number of different activities based around the theme of fruit and vegetables aimed to teach children more about the food that they eat and the many benefits from doing so. As Mrs. D’s books on this series are full of big, bright, bold illustrations, it presents a wonderful opportunity for children to create their own with pages upon pages of pictures to colour in.

This activity colouring book is a super idea. Ideally, I would purchase this with the storybook too to help further encourage interaction and to also bring greater understanding to the overall message. This rightly deserves 5 stars in my opinion.

The Royal Palm: Coloring & Activity Book for Kids
Barbara Mojica, Top Contributor: Children’s Books
5.0 out of 5 stars TROPICAL PURSUITS

The Royal Palm Coloring and Activity Book is an extension of the tale of The Royal Palm told in the children’s book of the same name. If you haven’t read it, the story centers on a stately royal palm tree whose dream is to move to the mainland. She reflects on her past experiences of a hurricane and the smaller palm trees who rallied around to protect her. The forces of nature are personified and teach young readers not to prejudge or underestimate others.

In this charming coloring and activity book, children are provided with a plethora of activities to stimulate their imagination and creativity. For younger children, there are trace-the-dot pictures, alphabetical order, and coloring pages. Older readers will be challenged by fill-in-the-blanks, hidden word pages, and matching synonyms and antonyms. What a wonderful way for older and younger siblings to share their smarts on a rainy day. Recommended for all ages, but especially for children ages six through ten.
