I adore children’s books with a good message, and “Timmy, the Flying Mouse” is certainly one of them. It is a sweet, charming story with a genial character whose extraordinary courage and determination will appeal to readers of all ages. This daring little mouse proves that even mice can fly.
From author Denise Boytsov:
Timmy is not an ordinary mouse. He has big dreams and one of them is being able to fly high up in the sky like a bird. Little Timmy has no wings, so how can he fly? But he is not a mouse to give up although his friends laugh at him. So he tries to do several things to make him fly, but none of these work until he gets help from an unexpected friend who helps him make his dream come true.
From Mrs.D:
This story shows that nothing is impossible if you follow your heart. The author has found a perfect way to show young readers how to achieve their dreams. All the characters are significant, especially Timmy, who demonstrates an amazing determination, a strong sense of curiosity, and an unusual hunger for adventures. His search for knowledge leads him on journeys that his friends do not understand. They make fun of him, but their unfriendly remarks do not stop an inquisitive adventurer. Despite his falls and setbacks, the brave dreamer continues his journey in search of new discoveries and proves that everything is possible if you set your mind to do something you are passionate about. The end of the story is especially awarding. The author sends a lovely message to readers: never, never, never give up on your dreams.
If you’re prepared to fall in love and have your heart melted, you are going to love this book. It is a lovely story of bravery, supportive family, and commitment. A great bedtime read for younger children—either read by parents or by those who are venturing into slightly longer stories. The message can be relatable to both children and adults: Dream BIG!
