The royal palm is a beautiful young tree growing up in the
shadows of her simple cousins, the short, plain palms. While she is still little, the royal palm’s
cousins protect the young tree from the storms that threaten to whisk her into
the raging sea. But as the royal palm
sees herself growing and becoming more tall and slender than the other trees on
the beach, she begins to think herself too good for them. She is determined to be alone and dreams of
someday leaving everyone and everything behind.
Despite her haughty attitude, the royal palm’s cousins remain loving and
welcoming towards her.
